From the minute I saw my first photograph developed a passion for the art of photography was also developed. Over the past 30 years I learned to combine my knowledge of computers, facination with light, and passion for photography. From these efforts came two distinct styles. "Pure Photography" where the image depicts the scene realistically and objectively, and "Pictorialism" where the image emulates a painging or etching of the desired time and style.

The combination of these two styles has helped to keep my passion and interest in photography going from day to day. It is not uncommon to find me sitting on the side of a road for hours on end, or wandering the streets of various towns in Amador County at odd hours of the night. I have even been known to frequently sit on the top of mountains in the freezing weather of winter. All so that I could get the perfect picture, at the perfect time, with the perfect light.

The galleries shown here are just a few of the areas I am working on, but provide a good mix of my style and technique.

Q. Can I see examples of your work?

A. Several customers have given permission to display their photographs for you to see in the Gallery section. Have a look by clicking on the "Gallery" link at the top of the page.

Q. Can I buy the image files?

A. Many of the galleries have the option for purchasing the original digital files. Special arrangements can be made during the post session viewing to purchase CD's of the images in medium, large, and original formats. Cost will vary depending on the number and size of the images requested.

Q. How many pictures do you take?

A. This will depend on the type of session, event, wedding. For portrait session I will average 20 to 30 images to ensure I have a post viewing selection of 6 to 12 images. For events I have been averaging 300 images to ensure I have a post viewing selection of 100 to 150 images.

Q. What type of equipment do you use?

A. My primary camera is a Canon 5D. All of the lenses I utilize are "L" series and are either prime fixed focal length (24mm, 50mm, 85mm, 100mm) or prime fixed apeture zoom lenses (17-40 f/4.0, 70-200 f/2.8).

Q. How much post processing editing do you do?

A. I am one of those photographers that feels that excessive post processing of images degrades the real
purpose of photography.

I use Photoshop CS4 for processing of all images and, except for color correction, work directly with you (the client) on the type and amount of post processing you want performed. With more than 10 years experience working with Photoshop I can perform simple skin tone changes such as removing a blemish, to extensive editing such as removing people or object from an image. Cost of post process editing will vary depending on the amount and type of editing desired.

In the image above you will see a composite of two images, taken two weeks apart. This particular image is entitled "Monica's Dream" and took second place at the 2007 Amador County Fair Art Show.

Q. Do you require a deposit?

A. For weddings I require a $250.00 non-refundable deposit to book a specific date. For portraits I charge a $125.00 sitting fee. For events I require 50% of the expected event fee, with a minimum charge of $150.00.

Q. How quickly will I receive my prints?

A. The answer to this question will vary depending on the number of images, complexity of editing needed, and the number of sessions I have scheduled. Unlike a chain photography studio I do not send my work out to an image processing lab. Each image is treated as if it was my own. I use Canon Pro 9000 and an HP 8350 printers to produce prints up to 13 X 19 and use either Ilford or Moab quality papers for final prints.

Q. Do you provide black and white photography?

A. Black and White photography is where I started over 30 years ago. With the conversion to digital I capture photos in color and allow you to choose during the viewing session which photos your would like to have in black and white.

Q. Can I view images on-line?
A. I have three methods of viewing images on-line with two located in the Gallery section of the web site and a third that is hidden and secured.

The first method, used for public secured viewing, is where a password is assigned to your gallery. Once the images are posted I will either call or Email you the password.

The second method of viewing images on-line is non-secure. This allows all visitors to the web site to view and purchase pictures.

The third method of viewing is where a hidden and password secured gallery is created. You will be provided a link and password. These galleries can not be viewed by the general public.

All galleries are available for a minimum of 1 year.

Q. Do you do glamour/boudoir style photography?

A. Glamour and Boudoir style of photography is facinating and is a way for an individual to express their desires and passions in a very personalized way.

To help with this style of photography session I provide custom scheduling to accomodate any situation, specialized lighting and personalized settings are provided. When finished, a private online gallery with a personalized password are available for one year.

Some of the options include calendars and canvas prints for general images. For those extra special images I provide in-house printing for prints up to 13 X 19.
